Outfit of the Day 102

Dress & Top: Forever 21+ | Shoes: Madden Girl

This is another dress that I picked up a ways back and just hadn't worn yet. When I first got it in the mail and tried it on I didn't really like how it looked on me, but recently I've lost some weight (not really intentionally) and it's fitting a lot better. I played around with a couple different tights for this look before finally settling on these sheer nude pantyhose with nude heels, as I felt if I went with black hosiery it would make this look a bit more dark than I wanted to go today. I'm really happy with how this outfit came together, and I just love what the pantyhose & heels are doing for my legs, hehe.

That's all for today, so I'll be seeing you tomorrow, okay?

Outfit of the Day 101 & Our Thanksgiving Party with Mr. and Mrs. Claus!

Dress: Simply Be | Tights: Hudson City | Shoes: Target

Mrs. Spookshow & I hosted an early Thanksgiving gathering for our friends and family today, and it seemed like the perfect occasion to wear this dress. My styling here is heavily influenced by my love of Zooey Deschanel, as this dress definitely strikes me as something she'd wear. Yay for that!

In lieu of lots more rambling about my fashion, here's some super fun photos from our Thanksgiving party! Fun fact: Mrs. Spookshow & I are actualy friends with Mr and Mrs. Claus, and they were able to hop on down from the North Pole to visit our holiday party ...

Mr. & Mrs. Claus certainly had a lot of fun at the party, hehe! Now here's a few photos of our family with them!

Outfit of the Day 100

Hat: Borrowed from Mrs. Spookshow | Dress: Forever 21+ | Tights: We Love Colors | Shoes: Target

One hundred outfit posts! That's pretty cool! Just before I took these photos I was having a look back here on the blog, specifically all the way back to my very first outfit post. It's really interesting to see just how much my style has evolved since then. Writing this blog and sharing my style has really helped me to be more true to myself and to be able to fully express who I am, and I want to say thank you for coming along with me on that journey. Who knows where the next 100 outfits will take me, and I look forward to continuing to share this piece of my life with everyone.

Outfit of the Day 99

Jacket, Top, & Skirt: Forever 21+ | Tights: We Love Colors | Shoes: Payless

I only managed to get three photographs today, as the natural light outside just wasn't cooperating, but I think I captured everything I wanted to. Originally with this outfit I wanted to try this blue pleated skirt with a pair of mustard color tights, but alas, it turns out I don't have any mustard tights. Ah, well. This is the look that spawned out of that thought, however.

I spent a lot of time looking in the mirror trying to decide if I should wear this jacket here or not, but in the end I decided to go for it. It's too bad it's burgundy and not a brown that matches the boots, but there's still something about it that I like and think works. Astute viewers may notice that I've worn this same jacket in black quite a bit here on the blog, and while I tried the black version here, it just didn't feel right.

I'm happy with how this one came together, if only because I had a surprising amount of fun mixing around all the colors. Once upon a time I used to wear black pretty exclusively, so it's really nice to be stepping outside of that and wearing more colors. That's all for this one. Seeya tomorrow!

Outfit of the Day 98

Hat & Jacket: Domino Dollhouse | Top: ASOS Curve | Shorts: Torrid | Tights: We Love Colors | Shoes: Payless

It's not very often that I wear shorts, as about a year ago I got rid of all but two pairs of shorts that I own. It's really no secret that I vastly prefer skirts, so that's what I wear pretty much all the time. If I was to buy a pair of shorts, then, they'd have to have a certain something. Enter hot pink short shorts!

I totally dig the shorts & tights look, though as a plus size person it's often difficult for me to find shorts that are short enough for my liking while not being totally ... well, you know. These are pretty much spot on, I think.

I'm totally crushing on the pink and blue combo here (hey, it's my blog colors for a reason, ya know), and I think this whole coord is workin' pretty well. It's hard not to wear this hat all the time, and you're probably tired of seeing it here on the blog, but I love it, dammit! Also, these boots! I really love them, but sadly they are almost done. I've had them for a few years now, and put a lot of wear on 'em. I really need to look for a similar pair here real soon, though.

Anyhow, that's all for this one! See ya tomorrow!

Outfit of the Day 97

Dress: ASOS Curve | Necklace: Domino Dollhouse | Tights: We Love Colors | Shoes: Ashley Stewart

It's totally paradoxical, but once upon a time I used to try pretty hard to avoid wearing anything too feminine. Eventually, I realized how ridiculous that idea was given the very nature of this blog, and I've been a lot happier since. Up until I bought this dress, however, I have completely avoided flower prints, as there was still some lingering self-doubts about it being too pretty for me.

I bought this dress with the thought that it would create a great outfit if I paired this flowery, pretty dress with some more harsh, hard femme type styling. Enter studded things! I think it turned out pretty well!

I'm giving a whole lot of leg in that leg shot, so there's that. I do want to quickly mention that these shoes are totally uncomfortable, and although I've had them for a long time I believe this is the first time I've featured them here on the blog because they are pretty unbearable to wear for very long. As of present they are totally just ten minute photo session shoes, but hey, I think they work pretty well here. With any luck I can slowly break them in and make them a bit more wearable. #Fatshionistaproblems, y'all.

Also, I think I love my hair.

OOTD 95 & A Few Announcements

Top: ASOS CurveBag & Bracelet: Domino DollhouseSkirt: Forever 21+Tights: Forever 21+Shoes: Torrid

So, I've been away for a little while. First, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who emailed or messaged me to make sure I was okay; I appreciate it. As I've said before here on the blog, September & October are very busy months for me, as I work doing makeup for a local haunted attraction. Late nights and a weird sleeping schedule means I just don't manage to make many posts here. Sorry for that! I'm back now, though!

Actually, now seems like the perfect time to dive right into the announcement I teased yesterday on Twitter (you do follow me on Twitter right?). I've been giving it a lot of thought, and in the interest of making this blog both more entertaining & informative, as well as just getting it "out there" more, I want to try to update a lot more often. No really, like, a lot more often. You see, for the past few years I've really wanted to participate in the Dressember event, but for varying reasons I've just never managed to join in on the fun. While I'm still probably not going to be posting to any Dressember groups and such, what I am going to do is take the idea and run with it a bit here on the blog. From today, and leading all the way through my "blogiversary" on March 2nd, I will be doing daily outfit posts here on HBD. Yep, you read that right. I'm going to do my best to post every single day from now through February! Oh my, what have I gotten myself in to.

So, with that out of the way, let's talk a bit about this outfit. As I was laying in bed last night thinking about writing this post and what I was going to wear for my triumphant return, this is the outfit that gradually coalesced in my mind's eye, and I'm super happy with it! I mean, who doesn't love skulls, pleated skirts, and gold studs?

I wanna take a moment to gush about how much I love these shoes. They are just so awesome! While I do wear a lot of heels here on the blog, I actually do have a soft spot for cute but comfortable flats. I've been wanting a pair of canvas shoes for a while now, and actually my original intention was to get a white pair and either paint or dye them myself. I'll still probably do that, but the print on this pair was just too awesome to pass up. I gotta say, I really love them. I was really taken aback by how comfortable they turned out to be, as apparently a size 11 from Torrid is my exact size. Anyhow, yeah, totally crushing on these shoes.

That's all for this one, folks. I'll be back tomorrow with another outfit, so seeya then!
